| Customer Reviews: compact, easy to use, & accurate December 22, 2008 G. WANG 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
My title says it all.
I like the compact size ... pinseeker is too large for me to carry around.
I like its x6 magnification ... tour v2 is compact too but only has x5 mag (you will want x6 than x5 mag when you aim at a pin over 300 yards). Also v2's yardage display is not as clear, big font size, as LR800. I tried my LR800 on a 537 yard hole (almost facing sun), and LR800 picked up the distance to the pin immediately. With a distance like this, x5 can be a little weak, even though v2 has pin seek and claims to go up to 1000 yards. With x6, I just see the green better.
There is no non-sense feature on LR800, such as switching modes (why do I need other modes if I only use this for golfing). I just aim at my target such as pin, bunker, water, etc and the yardage shows up in a second when I press the button. It turns off by itself so that I don't have to worry about anything.
If you are considering Nikon Monarch 800 or Nikon 800s (almost the same as LR800), the nice thing about these 2 is that you can switch between first target priority mode and distance target priority mode with these two models - good feature if you would use this for hunting. LR800 does not let you switch, but I only use this for golfing and do not want to bother switching, it is prefect for me.
I also like the carrying case of LR800. It is really designed for golfing - you clip it onto your bag, open the lens cover, and you are ready to go. Nikon's own 2 models come in a pouch, so you will need to take the rangefinder out and put it back ... it would make me feel like taking a picture on a golf course, rather playing a round of golf.
LR1200 is good too, but the size is slightly longer than LR800.
five star product August 25, 2008 Aries J. Nano (jersey) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Compact, acurate and simple to use. What more can you ask for. I purchased the LR800 on the course and its acuracy was dead on.
Very handy! June 7, 2010 J. Peterson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received quickly. Works great! Excellent Nikon optics. Nice manageable size. Need to keep reminding myself that just because I know the exact yardage to the pin, that's not necessarily the yardage I should play to...
Nikon Callaway LR 800 laser Rangefinder August 1, 2010 Wjim Florida (FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A good product but a little hard to hold steady I found if you lean against a tree or the golf card it is easier to hold steady otherwise vary good.

It is not easy to target the laser beam to the flag exactly. You have to repeat shooting the beam a few times to gey the reasonable distance.
